Everyone, thank you for your wonderful artwork submissions this year! We are no longer accepting artwork for the 8th Annual Space Foundation International Art Contest. The judging process has begun!

Winners will be announced January 19, 2018.

What is the Space Foundation International Student Art Contest?
The Space Foundation International Student Art Contest is an annual art contest created by the Space Foundation with the purpose of encouraging students' interest in art and in space. To learn more about the Space Foundation click here.

Who can enter?
Student artists, age 3 - 18 years of age. Please note: a teacher, parent or legal guardian, 18 years or older, must submit the art entry on behalf of the student artist. See Official Rules for more details.

What can I submit?
Please respect copyright laws and upload original artwork only that is based on this years theme: "My Space City Vision."

Does it cost anything to enter?
No, signing up and submitting artwork is free.

What are the file size requirements?
All artwork must be submitted in digital format as a .jpg or .png file.
Artwork must be at least 2,400 pixels by 2,400 pixels. (28 inches by 28 inches at 150 dpi or 70 cm by 70cm at 150 dpi) This is to ensure that we can print out your artwork at full size and resolution.

What are the prizes?
All winners receive:

  • An Art Kit
  • Ribbon
  • Certificate

What is this year's theme?
This year's theme is "My Space City Vision."

What is the judging criteria?
Entries will be judged based on the following criteria:

  1. creativity and originality
  2. quality and execution
  3. adherence to the theme
  4. overall impression

What is the artwork submission deadline?
All entries due by noon Universal Time (12:00 UTC), Friday, November 17, 2017!

When are the winners selected?
The winners are scheduled to be selected in January of 2018.

How will the winner be contacted?
The winners will be notified by email using the email address that you provided when creating your account. This email address is most likely that of the individual that submitted the artwork on behalf of the student artist. It is up to the submitter to notify the student artist. If you provide an incorrect email address, we will not be able to contact you and thus the student artist will not know they have won and will not receive their prize.

What if I provide the wrong shipping address?
If you are outside of the United States, it is critical you provide us with your complete and proper international shipping address. If your shipping address is incorrect we will not be able to re-ship your prize.
